Connie Burtrum has dedicated much of her professional life to serving others, building a career rooted in compassion, leadership, and resilience. Her journey began in the healthcare field, where she worked in nursing homes, developing a deep sense of empathy and a strong commitment to caring for those in need. While meaningful, she eventually felt called to pursue a different path—one where she could make a broader impact.
In 2002, Connie began her first role with Osage County as a medical officer and jailer, serving until 2005. During this time, she gained valuable experience working in corrections and developed a strong understanding of inmate care and facility operations. She later stepped away from her career to devote time to her family, a decision that reflects her deep personal values and dedication to those she loves.
From 2010 to 2014, Connie continued her service in the community while working for the Department of Corrections, further expanding her experience and strengthening her professional foundation. She returned to Osage County in 2018 as a kitchen supervisor, where she demonstrated reliability, organization, and leadership. In 2022, she transitioned into the role of detention officer and was quickly promoted to sergeant, a testament to her strong work ethic and ability to lead others effectively.
In 2023, Connie stepped away once again, navigating one of the most difficult periods of her life with strength and perseverance. In August 2024, she returned to Osage County as a detention officer, bringing with her not only years of experience but also renewed purpose and determination. In 2025, she was promoted to corporal and, shortly thereafter, to sergeant.
Now serving as a Lieutenant, Connie is passionate about leading others and supporting inmates in a meaningful way. She believes that leadership and inmate care go hand in hand—by guiding her team with integrity and compassion, she helps create an environment where positive change is possible.
Connie is looking forward to continuing to serve the citizens of Osage County with dedication, professionalism, and heart.
