
Shane Rhames began his law enforcement career in 1996 with the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office, where he quickly advanced through the ranks from Detention Officer to Deputy, Corporal, and ultimately Sergeant. During his 18-year career with TCSO, he gained extensive leadership and supervisory experience in detention operations, uniformed patrol, criminal investigations, and tactical operations.
As a long-serving member and Team Leader of the Tulsa County SWAT Team, Shane participated in more than 300 tactical activations and served as an instructor in firearms, officer survival, and tactical operations.
From 2005 to 2009, Shane was assigned to the Tulsa Metro Gang Task Force and the FBI Metro Violent Crime Task Force, where he conducted directed and undercover investigations involving organized criminal activity, violent offenders, and firearms-related crimes. He also played a key role in establishing the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office Jail Criminal Investigations Unit prior to retiring from the agency in 2014.
Following his retirement from TCSO, Shane served as Chief Deputy for the Rogers County Sheriff’s Office, helping modernize agency operations through technology upgrades, equipment improvements, and implementation of countywide reporting systems.
In 2017, Shane joined the Oklahoma Department of Corrections, Office of the Inspector General, where he conducted fugitive apprehension operations, criminal interdiction, and tactical and firearms training.
In 2021, Shane became one of the founding agents of the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority’s Investigations and Enforcement Division. He played a major role in developing the division’s policies, procedures, and training programs. His leadership and performance led to rapid advancement, including promotions to Agent in Charge in 2022, Director of Enforcement in 2023, and Director of Investigations and Enforcement in 2024, where he oversaw statewide regulatory enforcement and investigative operations.
Shane has accumulated more than 2,300 hours of CLEET training and holds instructor certifications in firearms, SWAT, officer survival, field tactics, and active shooter response.
Outside of his law enforcement career, Shane enjoys spending time with his wife Denise, their children and grandchildren, and enjoys hunting, fishing, golfing, and other outdoor activities.
